It SHOULD. But it won't at the Globes. Precious is too "American" for their tastes. Sounds weird, but it's true.

Precious has been picking up steam within the Academy community, though. The producers guild and the actors guild will seal its fate. There is looking to be a real chance for both Sidibe and Mo'Nique to win at the SAG awards later this month. And if that happens, that is a great sign for Precious on the Best Pic front (since actors are the largest voting bloc in the Academy).

But Avatar, Up in the Air, and The Hurt Locker all seem to be ahead right now for the Oscar.

Avatar --- because its pretty, anti-conservative, and a huge success.
The Hurt Locker --- because it is anti-war and made by a woman.
Up in the Air --- because it has Clooney.

But if Up in the Air LOSSES the Globe Sunday, that could end its Oscar hopes. We will see. And I will blog.
