chrisbrad: Red Sox (NaNo 2009)
It is official. I have won NaNoWriMo 2009. The tally stands at 57,038 words, but there are still two or three short wrap-up chapters I would like to write. But, I need to get other things done first, so the finishing touches will have to wait.

Loved it. Hated it. Wished it was twice a year.

So... Day 19 is here and NaNo is finished, for me at least.

I hit 50,000 words this morning. I worked through the night with a series of twists even I never saw coming. Hence, Day 18 kind of got overlooked. Sorry about that.

Anywho, though NaNo is done, the book is not. I still have quite a bit of plot to unravel.

On the other hand, I have also thought of a new blog series. It could even be adapted into its own little book (just thinking out loud).

Starting count:  38,816 words
Ending count:  43,037 words

That is 4,221 words for day seventeen. A personal best.  I think seeing the NaNo finishing line is helping, but the novel is still SOOOOOO incomplete.  I am thinking I may get to 50K tomorrow or Thursday. If that happens, well, I may take a break from this project.  I think having a few days of "me" time would help. It could clear my mind and let me see the best ending, not a rushed ending.

Ending count: 38,816 words

That is 1,224 words for day sixteen. Just wasn't feeling it today.

That is 3,563 words for day fifteen. Much better.

Starting count:   31,727 words
Ending count:   33,474 words

That is 1,747 words for day thirteen.

I basically finished up the entire set-up to the main plot. Things are about to get interesting (It is about time.)
In other NaNo news, I also made some home-made cover art. It is simple. It is awful. Just downright terrible. Then again, with my artistic skills, I am lucky to hit the level of just plain god-awful, so terrible is a step up.

That is all.

That is 1,681 words for day twelve.

Starting count:  25,006 words
Ending count:  28,401 words

That is 3,395  words for day ten. Much better than yesterday for so many reasons. Yay for getting back on track.

NaNo: Day 9

chrisbrad: Red Sox (Default)
Starting count:  21,543 words
Ending count: 25,006 words

That is 3,463  words for day nine. Not my best, but this was the hardest day to write. I think I hit a wall of not wanting to take the time to write. There are so many other things I need to be doing, important things, and my mind tries to tell me that writing a novel is a waste of time. It is not going to pay the bills or make me happy. It just feels like it is in the way. I know this is just my mind screwing with me, but I really wish NaNo was over so I could have free time for me, not for writing a vanity project.

Worst of all, I am pushing myself to the brink. In nine days I have hit the halfway point. That is too much and I know it. But I can;t help myself. I want to hit 50K so I can throw my hands up and say I am done. I can always come back to this story, make it better, and fill in the gaps. But right now, at this moment, I just want it to be over with.

Starting count:   20,016   words
Ending count:   21,543 words

That is 1,527 words for day eight.  My worst, but only 150 words less than the daily required minimum.  So not so bad in the grand scheme of things.

Starting count:  12,198 words
Ending count:   14,391 words

That is 2,193 words for day five.

Not bad, but not my best. I, though, am taking a break from writing for the rest of the night.

chrisbrad: Red Sox (Default)
Starting count:  9,120 words
Ending count:  12,198 words

That is 3,078 words for day four. Not bad at all for a day when I had nosebleed after nosebleed and a pounding headache.

Also, the really fun part of the novel is about to kick in since the set-up and characters are ready to go....

Nano: Day 3

Starting count: 6,122 words

That is 2,998 words for day three.

chrisbrad: Red Sox (Default)
Starting count: 2,231 words
Ending count: 6,122 words

That is 3,891 words for day two.

The reason: I had an amazing idea this afternoon for some fun backstory that I had never anticipated writing. If this continues, well, I may actually have something I can be proud of by the end on this month.

Whoot! 400 more words than the needed daily average. That is good...

Back to the presses tomorrow.

Well, I wrote my first paragraph just after midnight this morning. Those 37 words, now officially entered at the NaNo site,  mark the beginning of what is sure to be a long and difficult month of poundng away at my keyboard. I have to say, so far so good....

Just 49, 963 more words to go. Just 30 days to do it. Holy crap, I need to get a move on!
